The Buffalo Head Cichlid, also known as the Paratilapia polleni, is a striking and unique fish with its distinctive hump on the top of its head, resembling a buffalo's head. These cichlids are native to Madagascar and are a popular choice for freshwater aquariums due to their stunning appearance and relatively peaceful demeanor. In terms of care, the Buffalo Head Cichlid requires a spacious tank with plenty of hiding spots and a sandy substrate to mimic its natural habitat. They are omnivores and will thrive on a diet of high-quality flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp and bloodworms. They prefer slightly alkaline water with a pH range of 7.5-8.2 and a temperature range of 75-82°F.With proper care and a suitable environment, the Buffalo Head Cichlid can grow to a size of around 8 inches and can live for up to 10 years. They are known for their peaceful nature and can coexist with other non-aggressive tank mates. Their stunning appearance and easy-going temperament make them a great addition to any freshwater aquarium.
