Sicce's genuine Sponge Kit for the Aqua Filtra 40 hang-on-back filter (Sicce code SVA0028), with four replacement sponges per pack. The Aqua Filtra 40 cartridge takes one sponge.

The sponge is the filter's first stage, a 20 ppi foam that traps debris and holds the beneficial bacteria that do the biological filtration. Replacing only a worn or clogged sponge lets you keep the rest of the cartridge media in service. When you clean a sponge, rinse it in tank water rather than tap water so the bacteria survive. These fit the Aqua Filtra 40 only; the 10 and 20 use a smaller sponge. For freshwater or saltwater tanks.
